Eglinton Crosstown Construction Update

Metrolinx is making progress on the Crosstown project. Construction of a launch shaft east of Brentcliffe Road is complete and assembly of two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is nearing completion. Utility relocation and headwall construction along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe and Bayview started in January 2014. Eglinton Crosstown Line Station and Stop Names

The Eglinton Crosstown Project is building the Eglinton Line, a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilometre underground tunnel in its central section. When it’s complete, the line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today.    Lire la suite »

East tunnel boring machines begin their journey!

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT tunnel boring machines 'Don' and 'Humber' will begin their journey westward on September 29, 2015, marking another milestone toward the completion of the new LRT. 

The westbound tunnelling will start from the launch shaft located east of Brentcliffe Rd. and will proceed towards Yonge St. Work on the western segment of the tunnel has been underway since June 2013 with four of the 6.5 kilometres already complete. All tunnelling work is expected to be finished by the end of 2016. Lire la suite »

Monitoring Equipment Installation at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Bathurst Street

What: Monitoring equipment will be installed at Eglinton Avenue West and Bathurst Street. This equipment will measure important data related to the work of our tunnel boring machines underground. Overnight Restoration Work - Monday August 15 and Tuesday August 16

What: Crews will be completing restoration of the roadway overnight in an effort to minimize traffic impacts.  Noise and asphalt smell can be expected as part of this work.

When: August 15 and 16 from 9 p.m. in the evening to 6 a.m. in the morning.

Why: Construction of underground headwalls for the future Bathurst Station is nearing completion. Crews will be restoring the intersection to pre-construction conditions.  Lire la suite »

Stage 2 Cross Passage Construction near Locksley Ave. and Alameda Ave.

What: 

A cross passage is a tunnel cut between two other parallel tunnels required for maintenance or emergency purposes. 

Stage 2:  Cross Passage Construction near Locksley Ave. and Alameda Ave. Stage 2 work involves the placing of a generator and a dewatering treatment tank occupying a short curb lane restriction for approximately 6 months.

Parking in the vicinity of Bathurst, Chaplin and Avenue during Construction

Transforming transit across the middle of Toronto is a significant undertaking and requires a lot of coordination. Construction is visible along the Eglinton corridor and on many side streets while we work to build this important transit project.
