Stage 1: Bayview Headwall Construction

What work is starting?

What: Crews will be constructing the east headwall for the future Bayview station in advance of the twin tunnel construction. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the future station location. This work will include heavy civil construction; installation of secant piles which includes the use of a large drill-rig, jet grouting, daylighting and relocating utilities. Lire la suite »

Eglinton Crosstown Construction Update

Metrolinx is making progress on the Crosstown project. Construction of a launch shaft east of Brentcliffe Road is complete and assembly of two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is nearing completion. Utility relocation and headwall construction along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe and Bayview started in January 2014. Eglinton Crosstown Line Station and Stop Names

The Eglinton Crosstown Project is building the Eglinton Line, a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilometre underground tunnel in its central section. When it’s complete, the line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today.    Lire la suite »

East tunnel boring machines begin their journey!

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT tunnel boring machines 'Don' and 'Humber' will begin their journey westward on September 29, 2015, marking another milestone toward the completion of the new LRT. 

The westbound tunnelling will start from the launch shaft located east of Brentcliffe Rd. and will proceed towards Yonge St. Work on the western segment of the tunnel has been underway since June 2013 with four of the 6.5 kilometres already complete. All tunnelling work is expected to be finished by the end of 2016. Lire la suite »

Temporary Crosswalk Closure and Sidewalk Blockage - Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 a.m. to Monday, June 1 at 8:00 a.m.

What phase of work is starting in the vicinity of Sutherland Drive? 

What:  A temporary closure of the Eglinton crosswalk and south-side Eglinton sidewalk on City of Toronto right-of-way near Leaside High School is scheduled for the above noted dates. During this time, pedestrians will be diverted to cross Eglinton at Bayview Avenue and Rumsey Road. Also, the south-side Eglinton sidewalk near Leaside High School will be temporarily blocked and not accessible to pedestrian traffic. Lire la suite »
