What work is Taking Place?
- In preparation for construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be clearing and grubbing in the Victoria Park - Eglinton Parkette (1501 Victoria Park Avenue) to prepare the site for use as a temporary clean soil storage area.
- As part of this work, approximately 20 trees closest to the south curbside adjacent to Eglinton Square will be removed. Additionally, a number of trees in close proximity to the construction zone will require protection during construction.
- Fences will be erected around the entire parkette to secure the area.
- Tree protection hoarding will be placed around the trees that are being protected for the duration of the project.
- Tree protection hoarding will also be placed around the trees to be removed until removals are carried out.
- All appropriate permissions and permits to remove trees in conflict with station construction are obtained prior to the start of work.
Where
- Trees to be removed are located on the south side of the parkette abutting Eglinton Square. Trees present along the roadway of Eglinton Avenue East will be preserved and protected within an enclosed tree protection zone.
- Crews will be present in the Victoria Park and Eglinton Parkette at 1501 Victoria Park Avenue for the removals and installation of tree protection hoarding.
Timing
- Fences will go up around the Victoria Park-Eglinton Parkette as early as late-March 2017.
- Tree protection hoarding will go up around both the trees being protected and being removed as early as late-March 2017.
- Tree removal work is planned to take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
- The permitted hours of work are 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. and the contractor may work within those hours at their discretion.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to expect
- Residents and businesses nearby should anticipate noise from chainsaws and wood chippers for the removal of trees.
Traffic & Pedestrian Details
- Lane closures will not be required to complete this work.
- Pedestrian and property access will be maintained.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
