Lane Reductions to facilitate hydro utility relocation at the East Service Road

What Work is Taking Place?

In support of construction of the future Crosstown Light Rail Transit, crews will continue relocation and upgrading of existing overhead and underground utilities between Birchmount Road and Kennedy Road. Work began in June of 2017 and will continue for another six (6) months.

Starting as early as May 6, 2019 and lasting for approximately two (2) weeks, crews will be temporarily relocating hydro infrastructure in and around the Kennedy Station site. In order to facilitate this work, there will be lane restrictions on the East Service Road in close proximity to 2467 Eglinton Avenue East-Don Montgomery Centre.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin as early as May 6, 2019 for approximately two (2) weeks.
  • Work will be performed between the hours of 7 am and 11pm, seven (7) days a week.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavor to provide reasonable notice.

What to Expect

  • Crews will be installing new poles, wires, transformers, and switches, trenching new duct banks in and around the Kennedy Station site of Eglinton Avenue East as well as in close proximity to 2467 EAE- Don Montgomery Centre to connect to existing infrastructure.
  • Slight lane restrictions at the east service road in close proximity to 2467 EAE.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • Possible property access restriction at the western driveway of 2467EAE.
  • Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Slight lane restrictions at the east service road in close proximity to 2467 EAE- Don Montgomery Centre.
  • A flag person will be available to direct traffic.
  • A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction. With minimum lane width requirement to be maintained.
  • Possible property access restriction at the western driveway of 2467EAE. One side of the driveway will remain open to allow in and out bound traffic if restriction occurs.
  • There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and a traffic barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
  • Temporary pedestrian re-routing around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.
