What Work is Taking Place?
- Over the last few months, crews have been installing rebar for the track crossover section east of where the new Cedarvale Station will be built. The next step is to pour the concrete foundation, which is split into sections.
- The first pour was successfully completed on July 20 with 900 cubic metres of concrete poured. The second pour was successfully completed on August 9.
- Due to the large size of these concrete pours, work will start at 4am in order to complete the pour during the daytime hours, avoiding late overnight work.
- Trucks will access the tunnel shaft from east of Allen Road and pump concrete into a pipe before it is poured into place.
Timing
- The third pour is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26th at 4am with back-up dates on the 27th and 28th. Crews expect to finish by 11pm that day.
- **Additional pours may be scheduled later, and will be communicated separately.
- Work may be delayed due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect noise in the area caused by loaders, trucks and other construction equipment, as well as dust from drilling activity and debris removal.
- Heavy truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone (approximately 1-2 trucks every hour).
- In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones.
- For safety purposes, metal fencing will be erected around the work zone and there will be dust control measures in place.
Noise Mitigation Efforts
- White noise/broadband back-up alarms on all equipment/trucks. Broadband back-up alarms, unlike traditional truck back-up alarms, are only heard within the hazard area.
