EQUIPMENT REMOVAL AT SCIENCE CENTRE STATION

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

As part of the construction of the future Science Centre Station, crews will be extracting equipment from the bottom of an excavated trench on east side of the intersection. On Saturday, April 13, 2019, there will be a temporary change to the traffic configuration (depicted below) for a period of seven (7) hours to accommodate the removal.  

Lane restrictions will begin at approximately 6:00 a.m. and re-open at 1:00 p.m. the same day. Paid duty officers will be onsite for the duration of the equipment removal. Upon completion of the installation traffic setup will revert to current conditions for the remainder of the stage.


TIMING

  • The work will begin as early as 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 and continue to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • Westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to two lanes approaching and at Don Mills Road.
  • All pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection will remain open.
  • The south sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue East, west of Don Mills Road will remain closed.
  • Paid duty officers will be on site.
  • Road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
