Clearing and Grubbing at the Future Kennedy Station

Kennedy Station will be the terminal station at the eastern end of the LRT line, and will also serve as an interchange station. It will be located at Transway Crescent and Eglinton Avenue East, approximately 300 metres east of Kennedy Road. 

What work is Taking Place?

In preparation for station construction, crews will be clearing and grubbing in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue East and Kennedy Road for the upgrading and relocation of utilities and the widening of the Eglinton Avenue East roadway. Lire la suite »

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Investigation at Kennedy Station

Kennedy Station will be the terminal station at the eastern end of the LRT line, and will also serve as an interchange station. It will be located at Transway Crescent and Eglinton Avenue East, approximately 300 metres east of Kennedy Road. 

In preparation for station construction, crews will begin conducting preparatory activities and utility works including surveying, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information on sub-surface utilities and ground conditions in various locations along Eglinton.

Eglinton Crosstown Construction Update

Metrolinx is making progress on the Crosstown project. Construction of a launch shaft east of Brentcliffe Road is complete and assembly of two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is nearing completion. Utility relocation and headwall construction along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe and Bayview started in January 2014. Eglinton Crosstown Line Station and Stop Names

The Eglinton Crosstown Project is building the Eglinton Line, a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilometre underground tunnel in its central section. When it’s complete, the line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today.    Lire la suite »

East tunnel boring machines begin their journey!

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT tunnel boring machines 'Don' and 'Humber' will begin their journey westward on September 29, 2015, marking another milestone toward the completion of the new LRT. 

The westbound tunnelling will start from the launch shaft located east of Brentcliffe Rd. and will proceed towards Yonge St. Work on the western segment of the tunnel has been underway since June 2013 with four of the 6.5 kilometres already complete. All tunnelling work is expected to be finished by the end of 2016. Lire la suite »
