Preliminary Notice to Businesses and Residents: Upcoming Power Outage Between Birchmount and Kennedy

What Work is Taking Place?

Since June 2017, crews have been upgrading and relocating existing hydro utilities in the area located just west of Birchmount Road to Kennedy Road in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue East. To complete this work, a Hydro outage is required.

Sewer Re-lining Works at Laird Station

Sewer re-lining is a process intended to increase the durability of the sewers.  At Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East, local sewers will be re-lined in the vicinity of the construction sites. 

The liner is a flexible membrane that is placed inside the sewers. Lining is designed to be generally non-disruptive and eliminates the need for excavation of the entire sewer section. The required activities take approximately three days for each sewer section.  Lire la suite »

Utilities Relocation Continues for Chaplin Station 

What Work is Taking Place?

Since 2016, crews have been conducting utilities relocation work to make way for the construction of Chaplin Station.  Beginning in mid-September, crews will resume utilities relocation, including Bell duct bank work and relocation of a 300mm sanitary sewer. The work will be carried out within the existing work zones at the intersection of Chaplin Crescent and Eglinton Avenue West.

Traffic and Pedestrian Changes at Chaplin Station for Support of Excavation

What Work is Taking Place?

In winter 2017, crews began support of excavation work (shoring) of the station box at the future Chaplin Station, starting on the south side Eglinton Avenue West.  As early as Wednesday August 30, crews will implement the next stage of shoring for Chaplin Station.  

Please carefully review the map – traffic on Chaplin Crescent will be shifted to the west and changes to pedestrian crosswalks will be in effect.   Lire la suite »

The Cedarvale Station work zones are now in full swing as crews complete tunnel concrete pours, utility relocation, and support of excavation activities.

To continue to relocate and upgrade storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure and complete support of excavation, traffic changes in the vicinity of Cedarvale Station are required.

What work is taking place?

On August 22 and 23, crews will relocate a trailer at the Caledonia Station site to continue deep excavation.  Short-term lane reductions will be in effect.  Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Drill Move at Forest Hill Station

What Work is Taking Place?

On Thursday, August 10, crews will move the drill rig located at the Secondary Entrance east to the Main Entrance in advance of piling at the Main Entrance.  The drill rig will exit the Secondary Entrance and travel east along Eglinton Avenue West, crossing Bathurst Street, over to the Main Entrance located on the northeast corner of Eglinton Avenue and Bathurst Street.  

During the move, traffic at the intersection will be stopped for approximately 15 minutes. Lire la suite »
