Sewer Testing Works at Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews at Leaside Station will be performing storm sewer testing works on the north east corner of the Eglinton Avenue East and Bayiew Avenue intersection. The work will be performed overnight on March 6 and 7, 2020. The traffic configuration depicted below will be implemented for the overnight period. Paid duty officers and flagmen will be onsite to regulate traffic in all directions.

 Hours of Work

  • Sewer testing works will take place in the overnight period, 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. on March 6 and 7, 2020.
  • This work may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Noise, lighting and traffic delays can be expected for the duration of this work.
  • Site lighting will be angled away from residential properties.
  • Crews will be hydrovaccing and performing a storm sewer flush and deflection test for the City of Toronto.
  • Equipment and material storage within the work zone.
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • Fencing and concrete barriers may be installed around the work zone.

Traffic Impacts

  • Traffic on Bayview avenue north of Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane.
  • Paid duty officers and flagmen will be onsite to regulate traffic in all directions.
  • The westbound left turn movement will remain prohibited.
  • The southbound left and right turn movements will remain prohibited.
  • The northbound left turn will remain prohibited.
  • Lane reductions are required to accommodate simultaneous construction activities and subsequent vehicles, equipment and crews.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • The west north-south crosswalk will remain closed.
  • Pedestrian rerouting around work zones is done to protect the safety of pedestrians. Detours will be clearly marked with signage to direct pedestrians to the alternate routes.

Transit Information

  • There are no changes to the existing TTC stops.

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
