What Work is Taking Place?
To make way for future Mount Pleasant Station construction, crews must reconfigure the traffic signals at Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East. Crews will install temporary traffic poles at each corner of the intersection and then hang cables and new temporary traffic signals between the poles. Once the new signals are hung overhead, the existing traffic poles will be removed. Following installation, the new signals will be tested, and once complete, the new signals will come into effect.
Timing
- Beginning in early April 2017 for approximately two (2) weeks.
- Permitted hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
- This work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Nearby residents may experience noise caused by a hydro-vacuum, trucks and other construction equipment.
- In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within the designated work zones.
Traffic and Pedestrian Details
- Temporary curbside lane closures and turn restrictions will be in effect.
- A Paid Duty Officer will be on site to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the intersection.
- Motorists can expect delays and intermittent traffic disruptions when traveling through the intersection.
