UPDATE: Cedarvale Station Support of Excavation

By the end of 2015, tunneling works in the vicinity of Allen Road had concluded. Throughout 2016 and the beginning of 2017, crews conducted preparatory works for the future Cedarvale Station construction.

In June 2017, the Cedarvale Station work zones are now in full swing as crews complete tunnel concrete pours, utility relocation, and support of excavation activities.

Support of excavation, also known as shoring, is a common step in constructing the foundation of a structure. Shoring involves installing steel piles, as well as braces and tie-backs, around the perimeter of the area to be excavated. Shoring supports the ground while crews dig.

At Cedarvale Station, the entire shoring process will take up to 2 years, and will be conducted in phases. As crews move from phase to phase, changes to the intersection, Eglinton road decking, and nearby streets will occur.
