Updated: Road Widening and Reconstruction on Eglinton Ave, East of Brentcliffe Road

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will begin road widening activities on the north side of Eglinton Ave E, east of Brentcliffe Road as early August 2020. To accommodate these activities, a traffic change will be implemented as early as August 7, 2020 and remain in place until the end of September 2020. All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East.

What to Expect

Road widening and reconstruction activities include wet utility installations, saw cutting, concrete removals, excavation, backfill, compaction, curb and sidewalk reconstruction, asphalting and final paving.

Hours of Work
• Work will begin as early as August 7, 2020 and continue until the end of September 2020. 
• Work may occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
• Work may be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Details
• One eastbound and one westbound lane will be available on Eglinton Ave E.
• Westbound traffic will be shifted to the south side of Eglinton Ave E.

Pedestrian Details
• The pedestrian walkway will be available on the south side of Eglinton Ave E only.
• Pedestrians accessing 970 and 972 Eglinton Ave E will be rerouted south of the work zone.

Transit Information
• All TTC bus stops will remain in their current locations.

Other Information 
• Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area.
• Road works within the driveway of 972 Eglinton Ave East will be performed in stages and a temporary ramp will be constructed to maintain vehicular access for the duration of the work.
