Telecommunication Utilities Relocations for Laird Station

décembre 20, 2016

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will relocate existing telecommunications utilities from overhead to underground around the Eglinton Avenue and Laird Drive intersection. For the safety of the public and workers, temporary pedestrian and traffic changes will be in effect to accommodate this work.

  • Works are expected to start as early as mid-December 2016 and will continue for approximately five weeks.
  • Work is permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week.
  • Occupancy of the roadway is permitted between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • If overnight work is required, Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Work will be completed in a sequence designed to minimize traffic and pedestrian impacts.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, hydro-vaccing, and the use of heavy equipment.
  • Open excavations will be covered by metal plates outside of working hours.

Traffic Details

  • Short term lane closures on Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive will be required.
  • A Paid Duty Officer will be present for work near the intersection when necessary.
  • Work zones will be set up and removed every day.

Pedestrian Details

  • Intermittent sidewalk closures will be required for this work. Signage will be place in various locations to direct pedestrians to use the other side by crossing at identified intersection.
