What is the Crosstown?

 

Metrolinx is building the Eglinton Crosstown, Toronto’s new 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue with a central 10 km underground section. The Crosstown will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today. With 25 stations and stops and connections to 3 TTC subway stations, 54 local bus routes, 3 GO Transit lines and the UP Express, the Crosstown will improve travel times and change the way we move through the heart of the city. 

 

Keelesdale Station Traffic Reconfiguration

What work is taking place?

As part of the continued traffic staging set up at Keele Street/Trethewey Drive and Eglinton Avenue West for support of excavation works for the Keelesdale Station traffic restrictions in this area is changing.

 

To support the temporary shoring and excavation works for the Keelesdale Station, crews will be shifting or flipping traffic to the east side of the intersection at Keele Street/Trethewey Drive and Eglinton Avenue West.

Hours of Work 

The work will occur between 7:00 pm Friday and 4:00 am Monday over the weekend of  January 27thuntil 31st 2017.  Please note that work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. 

Traffic Details

  • Keele/Trethewey North and South of Eglinton will be reduced to 1 lane in either direction.
  •  Southbound right turn from Trethewey onto Eglinton will be restricted.
  • A northbound through lane from Eglinton onto Trethewey and a southbound left turn lane from Trethewey onto Eglinton will be maintained via a dedicated lane.
  • Left/right turns restricted at the intersection of Keele and Eglinton.

 

Pedestrian Detail

  • The pedestrian crossing on the west side of Keele Street/Trethewey Drive will be closed.
  • All other pedestrian walkways will remain open
