Completion of Hydro Utilities Work at Laird Station

Crews will work to finalize hydro utility works for the construction of the future Laird Station. Work will occur on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East from Laird Drive to Brentcliffe Road. Crews will be working on overhead lines. For the safety of the public and workers, temporary pedestrian and traffic changes may be in effect to accommodate this work. Work will occur in stages to minimize traffic disruptions. 

Hours of Work

  • Works are expected to be underway as early as the beginning of March 2017, and will take up to two weeks to complete.
  • Crew will move through the area, approximately 30 minutes at each location.
  • The work is expected to occur between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. 
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. 

What to Expect

  • Businesses and residents will hear noise from construction equipment including a line truck, and other construction equipment required for utilities relocation activities.

Traffic Details

  • Rolling lane closure in the westbound curbside lane on Eglinton Avenue East, from Brentcliffe Drive to Laird Drive.
  • During work close to Brentcliffe Drive and Don Avon Drive, local traffic restriction will be in place.  
  • During work close to Brentcliffe Drive and Don Avon Drive, flag persons will be on site.
  • Access to driveways will be maintained. 
  • Work zones will be set up and removed every day. 
  • Any intersection work will have a Paid Duty Officer (PDO) to help with traffic flow.  
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites

Pedestrian Details

  • There will be no sidewalk closures associated with the works. 
  • A minimum of 1.5m will be maintained for pedestrian movements.
