Shoring and Utilities Relocation in the Roadway at Fairbank Station

mai 16, 2017

What work is taking Place?

Since fall 2016, crews have been conducting support of excavation work (also known as shoring) at the Main Entrance and Service Building sites of the future Fairbank Station.  In mid-May 2017, crews will begin shoring of the station box, as well as wet utilities relocation, starting on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.

Shoring is a common step in the process of constructing the foundation of a building.  Steel piles as well as braces and tie-backs will be installed around the perimeter of the station box to support excavation.

Shoring in the roadway will be completed in stages.  The first two stages will take approximately three and a half (3.5) months to complete
