Map of work zones around Eglinton Avenue and Don Mills Road

Hours of Work

  • Weather permitting, crews will adjust the traffic set-up on the following schedule:
  • Wednesday, October 18 at 7:00 PM, working overnight until Thursday, October 19 at 5:00 AM
  • Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 PM, working overnight until Friday, October 20 at 5:00 AM
  • A paid-duty Police Officer will be present during traffic set-up work.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Once the traffic set-up is in place, it will remain for approximately four (4) months.

What to Expect

  • Minor adjustments to the traffic control barriers around the intersection will also be made, but all existing traffic lanes will remain the same.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from trucks and other construction equipment required to perform the work.

Traffic Impacts

  • During the work zone set-up additional short duration lane closures will be required to safely conduct the work.
  • Once, the set-up is complete traffic on Don Mills Road will be shifted to the east side of the roadway, south of Wynford Drive.
  • A minimum of two through lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Additional lane reductions during off peak hours may be required.
  • Southbound right turns will be prohibited (Don Mills southbound to Eglinton Ave westbound) for a couple of weeks during this stage of work. Signage will be placed to advise motorists when this restriction is in place.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • The east-west crosswalk on the north side of Eglinton Avenue will be closed.
  • Pedestrian detours are clearly marked with signage directing pedestrians to the alternate routes.

TTC Impacts

  • The southbound bus stop on Don Mills Road will be moved further north on Don Mills Road.
  • The westbound bus stop on Eglinton Avenue East will remain on the west side of Don Mills Road.
  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
