Upcoming Traffic Changes at Don Mills and Eglinton
Upcoming Work and Construction Staging: January 2018
As part of the continued support of excavation works and utility relocation works for the future Science Centre station, traffic staging at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East will be changing as early as late January 2018.
A new work zone will be erected on the west side of Don Mills Road, across Eglinton Avenue East and both north and south of the intersection. Adjustments will be made to the traffic control barriers around the intersection.
Hours of Work
- Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week. The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
- Occasional overnight work may be required – Metrolinx and CTS will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
- Once the traffic set-up is in place, it will remain for approximately three (3) months.
What to Expect
- A minimum of two through lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
- During the work zone set-up additional short duration lane closures may be required to safely conduct the work.
- Sidewalk and/or crosswalk closures may be in effect.
- Pedestrian rerouting around work zones can be expected, with detours clearly marked with signage directing pedestrians to the alternate routes.
- Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
Transit Information
Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers. Please watch for posted notices indicating new information.
Travelling Smart during Construction
Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m and 3 p.m.
