Hydro Duct Bank Connection Works for Science Centre Station between Wynford and Eglinton on Don Mills Road
What Work is Taking Place?
As part of ongoing utility relocation work for the future Science Centre Station, crews will be conducting hydro infrastructure work in the vicinity of the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East intersection, beginning as soon as Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Ongoing hydro infrastructure upgrades support construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
Hours of Work
- Work is expected to begin as soon as early June 13, 2018 and is expected to last for approximately four (4) weeks.
- Work may occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, seven (7) days a week.
- Updates on works taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Work zones will be erected in the roadway on Don Mills Road between Eglinton Avenue East and Wynford Drive.
- Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
- For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zones.
- Property access to businesses will be maintained.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- Lane closures are required on Don Mills Road to safely perform this work.
- Closures will take place during non-peak hours.
- A minimum of one (1) lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
- Pedestrians may be temporarily rerouted around work zones.
- Please watch for posted signage directing pedestrians to alternative routes.
- The existing closure of the north-south crosswalk on the east side of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East intersection will remain in effect during this work.
- Paid-Duty Police Officers may be present during this work.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
TTC Impacts
- TTC bus stops will remain in current locations during this work.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
