Support of Excavation at Mount Pleasant Station

juin 21, 2018

What Work is Taking Place?

As early as June 21, crews will mobilize a drill to the southeast work zone and begin piling on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.  Piling is a common step in the process of constructing the foundation of a building, in which crews will drill several meters below-grade, a steel beam is placed in the shaft and concrete is poured.  Piles form the support of the station structure.  Following pile installation, lagging, braces and tie-backs will be installed to support excavation.

Once storm sewer operations on the southwest side of Eglinton Avenue are complete, piling will commence there with a drill rig operating east and west of Mt Pleasant Road, simultaneously.

Piling will be completed during permitted hours.  Noise from drilling activity can be expected.
