juillet 3, 2018

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be upgrading and relocating wet utilities along Eglinton Avenue between Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Square.

Starting as early as July 3rd and lasting approximately four (4) weeks, crews will install new pipes, and replace manholes and catch basins. This work supports the upgrade of water infrastructure across Eglinton Avenue East for the future Crosstown surface stops.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin as early as July 3rd and last approximately four (4) weeks.
  • Work may occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, seven (7) days a week.
  • Updates on works taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • New pipes, manholes and catch basins will be installed between Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Square on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East. The work will be performed within a protected work zone.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Two lanes of eastbound through traffic will be maintained during this work.
  • The existing closure of the north-south crosswalk on the east side of Victoria Park and Eglinton Avenue will remain in effect during this work.
  • Paid-Duty Police Officers may be present during this work.

TTC Impacts

  • The eastbound bus stop on the east side of Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue intersection will be relocated to the west side for the safety of the public and transit users.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
