Wilson Brook Culvert Work Begins East of Future Sloane Stop

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing works to build the LRT system along Eglinton Avenue, work on the Wilson Brook Culvert will be taking place on the south and  north side of Eglinton Avenue East in front of 1730 Eglinton Avenue East. This work is expected to begin as early as Wednesday, August 16, 2018.

Crews will be building a temporary storm drain line as well as excavating and replacing the culvert (a tunnel or pipe used to allow water and/or wildlife to move easily from one side of an obstruction to the other). Work is expected to take approximately four (4) months to complete.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to occur as early as Wednesday, August 16, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • Work is expected to take approximately four (4) months to complete.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions of unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • The initial phase of this work will have significant noise and vibration impacts. 
  • If you have a business in the area, it is suggested that you take extra precautions with business operations and equipment that are sensitive to vibrations. 
  • If you live near the construction zone, you may want to temporarily remove wall hangings and pictures that could fall and be damaged from these potential vibrations.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area. Monitoring will be conducted to ensure all levels are kept within industry standards.
  • The driveway to 1730 Eglinton Avenue East will remain open.

Traffic Impacts

  • Lane reductions will be required to safely perform this work.
  • A minimum of one (1) through lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Eglinton Avenue East.
  • Please watch for traffic and construction signage.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • All open sidewalks and crosswalks will be maintained during this work.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Transit Information

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers. Please watch for posted notices indicating new information.
