Guideway Work along Surface Section of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT: Victoria Park Avenue to Pharmacy Avenue

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be conducting guideway work in the center of Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park Avenue and Pharmacy Avenue starting as early as November 24, 2018 until early 2019. The work includes cutting and removal of existing asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.

Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as November 24, 2018 until early 2019. 
  • Time: work will be performed between the hours of 7 am and 11pm
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.

What to Expect

  • Cutting and removal of existing asphalt in the center of Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park Avenue and Pharmacy Avenue. The work will be performed within a protected work zone.
  • Work will be conducted in stages.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
  • Property access may be maintained.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • A minimum of two lanes of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work.
  • West bound left turns will be restricted at Eglinton Square intersection during stage 2.
  • Southbound traffic will be restricted from Golden Mile Plaza to Eglinton Square during stage 2.
  • North –south crosswalk will be restricted at Eglinton Square.
  • Traffic will remain in the center of the road east of Pharmacy Avenue.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

TTC Impacts

  • The #70 O’Connor bus will be diverted to Victoria Park Avenue.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
