UPDATE

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the continued construction of the future Sloane Stop, crews will be conducting water main installation work at the Bermondsey Road/Soane Avenue at Eglinton Avenue East intersection. Work will occur on the west side of the intersection and occur overnight. Temporary changes to the traffic configuration will occur to accommodate these activities, the two stages (depicted below), will be implemented for three (3) nights each. The timeline has been extended by two nights to March 22.

Hours of Work

  • The work will begin as early as 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019. 
  • Working hours will be 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. March 12th, 2019 – March 22nd, 2019.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect?

  • Crews will be removing concrete and excavating for water main installations.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area.
  • Monitoring will be conducted to ensure all levels are kept within industry standards.
  • Notices to impacted businesses will be communicated separately. 
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone.
Traffic Impacts

STAGE 1 
  • Traffic will be shifted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, one lane in each direction. 
  • North-south traffic on Bermondsey Road and Sloane Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the east side of the road. 
STAGE 2 
  • Traffic will be realigned to the centre of Eglinton Avenue East, one lane in each direction. 
  • North-south traffic on Bermondsey Road and Sloane Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted to the east side of the road. 
Pedestrian Impacts
  • The west north-south crosswalk will be closed overnight for the safety of pedestrians. 
  • Signage will be installed directing pedestrians to available crosswalks.
TTC Impacts
  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
