New Traffic Configuration: Swift and Credit Union Drive at Eglinton Avenue East

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Road widening and paving activities at the Credit Union and Swift Drive intersection at Eglinton Avenue East are expected to be completed as early as April 8, 2019. At this time, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at the intersection (depicted below). This stage will be in place until May, 2019. 

TIMING

  • The traffic configuration will be in place for approximately 8 weeks.
  • Work is expected to occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions of unforeseen circumstances.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Crews will be completing boulevard finishing work on the north and south side of Eglinton Avenue East.
  • Crews will be completing telecommunications relocations on the north and south side of Eglinton Avenue East.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • A lane closure on the north and south side of Eglinton Avenue East is required to complete this work.
  • A minimum of two through lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • A northbound through-lane will be implemented at the intersection for this stage. 
  • An eastbound left turn will be implemented at the intersection for this stage.

PEDESTRIAN AND TTC IMPACTS

  • The south sidewalk west of Credit Union drive will remain closed.
  • Eastbound and westbound TTC bus stops will be maintained.
  • A temporary northbound TTC stop for the detoured Woodbine 91 bus will be installed at the south east corner of the intersection beginning April 15, 2019. 
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
