What Work is Taking Place?

Two (2) intersection closures of Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue are being proposed to complete two large concrete pours. The first closure, pending approval, would take place in June and the second in July 2019. The concrete will form part of the roof of Forest Hill Station.  

The first proposed closure is scheduled for Friday June 21st, 2019.  The date of the second proposed closure will be confirmed in a future notice.

Each concrete pour would take approximately 18 hours to complete. Once the pour is complete, the intersection would re-open. Significant traffic restrictions, including TTC detours, would be in effect. Please review the traffic details below.

Details 

  • Friday June 21, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. for approximately 18 hours (overnight), pending approval.
  • Second proposed closure in July 2019 for approximately 18 hours, overnight (date TBC).
  • These activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather.

Construction Staging

What to Expect

  • No through access at Bathurst St and Eglinton Ave W will be permitted.
  • Local property access will be maintained and controlled by traffic control personnel.
  • Noise and lighting from construction activity can be expected.
  • 20+ concrete trucks expected per hour during the concrete pour(s).

Traffic Details

  • Eglinton Ave W will be closed from Hilltop Rd to Old Forest Hill Rd.
  • Bathurst St will be closed between Wembley Rd and Rosemary Ln.
  • Pedestrians will cross at the closure limits with assistance from traffic control personnel.
  • Access to the Hilltop-Bathurst laneway will be maintained via Hilltop Rd.
  • Access to the west driveway of 840 Eglinton Ave W will be maintained.

TTC Detour

  • Detours will be in effect for TTC #32/332 Eglinton and #7/307 Bathurst buses.
  • Detour routes will be detailed in a future construction notice.
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated or eliminated during the closure.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with the TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
