Tower Crane Removal at Science Centre Station
WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
As part of the construction of the future Science Centre Station, crews will be removing a tower crane at the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East intersection. Crews will also be installing a mobile crane. There will be a temporary change to the traffic configuration to accommodate these activities beginning at 7:00 a.m. on February 29, 2020 (depicted below).

HOURS OF WORK
- Lane reductions will begin at 7:00 a.m. on February 29, 2020 for a period of twelve (12) hours.
- Construction works may occur between 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday to Sunday.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.
- This traffic change and related construction activities may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Crews will be removing a tower crane from the existing worksite and installing a mobile crane.
- Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane east of Don Mills Road.
- A PDO (Paid Duty Officer) will be present to assist.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
- Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane east of Don Mills Road.
- Two lanes of north and south traffic will be maintained on the east side of Don Mills Road.
- Northbound, southbound and eastbound left turns will remain restricted.
PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
- The sidewalk will remain open on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.
- The west north-south crosswalk at the intersection will remain closed.
TRANSIT INFORMATION
- The westbound bus stop on Eglinton Avenue East will be relocated west of Don Mills Road for the duration of this work.
- Directional signage will be installed for pedestrians and TTC users.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with the TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers. Visit www.ttc.ca [1] for more information.
TRAVELLING SMART DURING CONSTRUCTION
- Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
- Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
