What Work is Taking Place?

  • Backfilling and compaction is the next stage of construction at the abandoned TTC bus depot, located at the south west corner of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue West.
  • This work involves refilling and leveling the demolition site with fresh granular material and compaction of the material into the ground. This activity will prepare the site for support of excavation, the following phase of construction.

  • This stage of work is expected to begin as early as mid-November for approximately three (3) weeks.
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week. The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. This work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
  • In the event that overnight work is required, Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.

What to Expect

  • Given the size and weight of the crane and drill rig, compaction requirements are rigorous. As a result, nearby properties will experience moderate to significant vibration.
  • Nearby properties can also expect to hear noise caused by construction vehicles and equipment.
  • Crews are monitoring noise and vibration during this work.
  • Some truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone can be expected.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near construction zones.
