TBMs on the move April 17-20 - Specialized lift and move will result in road closures
What is happening?
Dennis and Lea, the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) that have been building the western segment of the Eglinton Crosstown’s underground tunnel, are getting ready for their own big move.
Over the weekend of April 17-20, 2015, Dennis and Lea will be lifted out of the extraction shaft located just west of Allen Road, and moved to the launch shaft just east of Allen Road. The TBMs are being moved in order to bypass the TTC subway line in this area. Read more »
Gas line relocation for future Dufferin Station Starting the week of April 6, 2015
The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60 per cent faster than the bus service today. Read more »
Return of Northcliffe Boulevard to One-Way Traffic Northbound
UPDATE: During construction at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue, Northcliffe Boulevard between Vaughan Road and Eglinton Avenue West was temporarily converted from a one-way northbound street to a two-way street.
The week of April 6th, Northcliffe Boulevard will return to a one way northbound street to accommodate Enbridge Gas Distribution gas line relocation. Traffic signage will be in place to reinforce the change.
Further construction on Northcliffe Boulevard can be expected. Information will be shared as it becomes available. Read more »
Update: Laird West Headwall Construction – Phase 2 Work Shifts to the North Side of Eglinton
What phase of work is starting in the vicinity of Sutherland Drive?
What: Headwall construction has been underway in this area since the end of 2015. Crews have been building the Laird west headwall on the south side of Eglinton for the future Laird Station in advance of tunnel construction. Crews will soon begin on the west headwall on the north side of Eglinton. Read more »
Temporary Road Closure
What: Toronto Water shut off water this morning to residents and businesses between Kane Avenue and Scott Road along Eglinton Avenue and from Eglinton Avenue south to Cameron Avenue (one block).
Why: Crews working on a passage way connecting the twin tunnels of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) noticed water and soil leakage last evening.
As a precaution to prevent any issues such as flooding, work was stopped immediately and this incident was reported to City authorities. Read more »
Emergency Exit Building near Petman Avenue - Temporary Partial Driveway Closure and Rolling Lane Restrictions
What & Where: As part of current work to construction an emergency exit building near Petman Avenue, crews will be relocating Toronto Hydro utilities on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, between Cardiff Road and Forman Avenue. This work will occur in two stages and will temporarily block some driveways on the north side of Eglinton. Vehicles will be able to access the above noted addresses, at all times. Read more »
Monitoring Equipment Installation along Eglinton Avenue East
What: Monitoring equipment will be installed at major intersections along Eglinton Avenue East. This equipment will measure noise and vibration that may be related to the work of our tunnel boring machines underground. These measurements will allow construction crews to adjust tunnelling activities along Eglinton Avenue East if needed. Read more »
Yonge & Eglinton Avenue East Extraction Shaft Work Shifting to North Lanes
What: Work on the construction of the tunnel boring machine extraction shaft located within the Eglinton Avenue roadway on the east side of Yonge Street continues. The next stage of work is set to begin, and will involve construction shifting back to the north lanes of Eglinton Avenue. This work will include daylighting and relocating utilities.
