Photography Drive Bridge Demolition

What is happening?

The first step in the construction of the Mount Dennis Station requires the demolition of the Photography Drive Bridge deck, which was closed in 2002. The Photography Drive Bridge is located over Eglinton Avenue West between Black Creek Drive and Weston Road. Eglinton will be closed between these streets during the demolition.

Eglinton Avenue East (Near Yonge) Extraction Shaft Work - Shifting to South Lanes

What we are building

What: Crews will be shifting construction to the south lanes on Eglinton Avenue East to continue work on the tunnel boring machine (TBM) extraction shaft located within the Eglinton Avenue roadway on the east side of Yonge Street. This work will include, heavy civil construction; installation of secant piles, jet grouting, daylighting and relocating utilities.  Read more »

Tunnelling: What you may experience

Dear Neighbour:

As you may know, the Eglinton Crosstown includes a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Keele Street and Laird Drive.For the tunnelled portion, we have tunnel boring machines (TBMs) operating around the clock - 24 hours a day, seven days week.

On average, the tunnel boring machines each travel approximately 10-15 metres per day. TBMs are working approximately 16-20 metres below ground, but we sometimes hear from nearby residents who may experience noise and vibration from the TBMs as they pass through the area. Read more »

Continuing Preparatory Works for the Future Keelesdale Station

Since December 2015, crews have been conducting preparatory activities along Eglinton Avenue West in the vicinity of the future Keelesdale (formerly Keele) Station to prepare for the next phase of construction of the Eglinton Crosstown. Work will continue through winter 2015/2016 in advance of the construction of the Keelesdale Station, which will begin in spring 2016.

Sewer Work – Eglinton Avenue East between Banff Road and Bayview Avenue

Dear Neighbour, 

As you know, tunnelling for the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) line will continue through 2016. Metrolinx has sent various updates related to the tunnelling work and its progress; however, regrettably less time has been spent to communicate some of the impacts of preparatory or pre-tunnelling work that is required in advance of tunnel boring machines passing through a particular area.  Read more »

Update – Jet Grout Plant at Emergency Exit Building

What work is starting?

What: In addition to the jet grout plant currently set-up on Donlea Drive just north of Eglinton Avenue, crews have recently installed a jet grout surplus treatment plant within the Emergency Exit Building construction site, which is adjacent to Leaside High School on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East. Utility works and geotechnical tests scheduled for the future Caledonia, Dufferin Oakwood, Bathurst and Chaplin LRT Stations

Surface Monitoring Equipment Installation - Eglinton Avenue West from Heddington Avenue to Braemar Avenue

What:

Surface monitoring equipment is required for installation in the identified area. This equipment will measure important data related to the work of our TBMs (tunnel boring machines) underground.
