Stage 2: Mount Pleasant Headwall Construction on the South Side of Eglinton

What phase of work is starting in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant Road? 

What:  Crews will build the Mount Pleasant headwalls on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, east and west of Mount Pleasant Road, for the future Mount Pleasant Station in advance of tunnel construction. Re-opening of Little Boulevard and Reinstatement of Eglinton Avenue West

Eglinton Avenue West and Little Boulevard.

What: Traffic will be shifted to the north lanes near the intersection of Eglinton Ave West and Little Boulevard. During this shift, Little Boulevard will be reopened to traffic.

Where: With the reinstatement of Eglinton Avenue West in this area, a construction zone will occupy the south lanes while traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will continue to be one lane in each direction in the north lanes. Read more »

Stage 1: Bayview Headwall Construction

What work is starting?

What: Crews will be constructing the east headwall for the future Bayview station in advance of the twin tunnel construction. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the future station location. This work will include heavy civil construction; installation of secant piles which includes the use of a large drill-rig, jet grouting, daylighting and relocating utilities. Read more »

Utility works and geotechnical tests scheduled for the future Keele Station

Over the next few months, crews will be conducting several investigative works in the vicinity of the future Keele Station.

Why: 

Metrolinx continues to build the Eglinton Crosstown Line (Line). It is now partnering with Crosstown Transit Solutions to design and construct the stations, tracks, and signaling system for the Line. Before starting construction on Keele Station, CTS will confirm and benchmark soil condition, noise and vibration levels, and the condition of buildings. Read more »

Eglinton Crosstown Construction Update

Metrolinx is making progress on the Crosstown project. Construction of a launch shaft east of Brentcliffe Road is complete and assembly of two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is nearing completion. Utility relocation and headwall construction along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe and Bayview started in January 2014. Some works along the road have been completed and others are progressing well. The Crosstown Team appreciates the patience of our neighbours while we work to build transit. Read more »

Short- term Road Closures at Gilgorm Road for Removal of Grout Plant

What: The jet grout plant at Eglinton Avenue West and Gilgorm Road will no longer be needed and will be taken down over the next few weeks. This will result in road closures at the south end of Gilgorm Road. 

When: The demobilization of the plant has started and will continue over the next couple of weeks. The road closure is expected to start as early as October 2 and last for approximately six days. The site will no longer occupy the south end of Gilgorm Road after October 9.   Read more »

Eglinton Crosstown Line Station and Stop Names

The Eglinton Crosstown Project is building the Eglinton Line, a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilometre underground tunnel in its central section. When it’s complete, the line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today.    Read more »
