Gas Line Relocation for Eglinton Crosstown LRT – Don Mills Station Starting the Week of February 2, 2015

What work is starting?

What: Enbridge Gas Distribution will be relocating natural gas pipelines for the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown tunnel and future Don Mills Station.

Why: To accommodate the construction of the new Don Mills Transit station, Enbridge is required to relocate the natural gas mains that currently occupy the area. These natural gas mains are integral to Enbridge’s gas system and must be re-routed to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers in the Greater Toronto Area.

When: Crews will begin to occupy a section of the roadway on Don Mills Road, starting as early as Tuesday, February 3. 

The work zone will shift as crews begin to re-route and install the new natural gas pipeline. Each road will be affected independently. It is expected that this work will be completed over several months and some work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Where: Various side streets will experience rolling lane restrictions and short-term closures to accommodate the installation of the new natural gas pipeline. The following roads will be affected in this order:

• Wynford Drive
• Gervais Drive
• Eglinton Avenue
• Don Mills Road

Transit Information

For the safety of transit riders, TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for additional signs directing pedestrians.

Traffic Details

Parts of each road may be closed during the day and open to one lane of traffic at night for local residents. Driveways will be accessible to residents. 

Please take care when travelling near construction areas. Pedestrian walkways will remain open. Please watch for additional signs directing pedestrians as detours may be required.  

Due to the current volume of traffic in this area, traffic delays are expected during construction.

Work Hours

Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning work may be required to keep construction moving. Enbridge will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at their discretion.
