Gas line relocation for future Forest Hill Station
Starting the week of April 4, 2016
The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60 per cent faster than the bus service today.
What work is starting?
What: Enbridge Gas Distribution (Enbridge) will be relocating natural gas pipelines at the site of the future Forest Hill Station. Blue highlights indicate where work crews will occupy one lane of the road.
Why: To accommodate the construction of the new Eglinton Crosstown Forest Hill Station, Enbridge is required to relocate natural gas pipelines that currently occupy the area. These pipelines are integral to Enbridge’s gas system and must be re-routed to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers in the Greater Toronto Area.
When: Crews will begin to occupy the area near Bathurst Street & Eglinton Avenue, starting as early as April 4, 2016. It is expected that this work will be completed over a three month period. Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
Where: The project will primarily take place on side streets and in laneways. Enbridge representatives will be in touch with affected businesses or home owners.
Transit Information
For the safety of transit riders, TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for additional signs directing pedestrians.
Traffic Details
During construction hours, lane reductions or short-term road closures may be required. These roads will be reopened in the evening for local residents. Driveways will be accessible to residents at all times.
Please take care when travelling near construction areas. Pedestrian walkways will remain open but we ask that you watch for additional signs directing pedestrians as detours may be required.
Due to the current volume of traffic in this area, traffic delays are expected during construction.
Work Hours
Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning work may be required to keep construction moving. Enbridge will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at their discretion.
We thank you for your continued patience as we work to build this important project.
