What work is starting?

What: Enbridge Gas Distribution will be relocating natural gas pipelines at the site of the future Caledonia Station.

Map - Enbridge work Caledonia July 2015

Why: To accommodate the construction of the new Eglinton Crosstown Caledonia station, Enbridge is required to relocate natural gas pipelines. These pipelines are integral to Enbridge’s gas system and must be re-routed to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers in the Greater Toronto Area.

When: Crews will begin to occupy the area near Caledonia Street and Eglinton Avenue, starting as early as August 4, 2015. It is expected that this work will be completed over a two week period. Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Where: The project will primarily take place on side streets and in laneways.  Enbridge representatives will be in touch with affected businesses or home owners to notify them of any potential natural gas service interruptions or natural gas meter relocations.

Transit Information

For the safety of transit riders, TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for additional signs directing pedestrians.

Traffic Details

During construction hours, lane reductions or short-term road closures may be required. These roads will be reopened in the evening for local residents.  Driveways will be accessible to residents at all times.

Please take care when travelling near construction areas. Pedestrian walkways will remain open, but please watch for additional signs directing pedestrians as detours may be required.

Due to the current volume of traffic in this area, traffic delays are expected during construction.

Work Hours

Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning work may be required to keep construction moving. Enbridge will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at their discretion.
