Why: To accommodate the construction of the new Eglinton station, Enbridge is required to relocate natural gas pipelines that currently occupy the area.  These pipelines are integral to Enbridge’s natural gas system and must be re-routed to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers in the Greater Toronto Area.

When: Crews will begin to occupy the area near Yonge Street & Eglinton Avenue, starting as early as October 13, 2015. It is expected that this work will be completed over a two month period. Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Where: The project will primarily take place on side streets and in laneways.  Enbridge representatives will be in touch with affected businesses or home owners to notify them of any potential natural gas service interruptions or natural gas meter relocations.

Transit Information

For the safety of transit riders, TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for additional signs directing pedestrians.

Traffic Details

During construction hours, lane reductions or short-term road closures may be required. These roads will be reopened in the evening for local residents.  Driveways will be accessible to residents at all times. Due to the current volume of traffic in this area, traffic delays are expected during construction.

Please take care when travelling near construction areas. Pedestrian walkways will remain open but detours may be required – please watch for additional signage.

Work Hours

Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning or overnight work may be required to keep construction moving. Enbridge will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at their discretion.
