GUIDEWAY CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES EAST OF SLOANE AVENUE 

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Guideway and stop construction continues east of Sloane Avenue on Eglinton Avenue East.  As early as November 6, 2019 the guideway work zone will be extended 70 meters east for continued guideway construction. Traffic will remain in guideway staging for approximately six (6) months. Construction at the Wilson Brook Culvert will also continue through to late December, 2019. The culvert is located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Sloane Avenue and Jonesville Crescent. Road widening activities will also continue between the culvert and Jonesville Crescent through to late December, 2019.


WHAT TO EXPECT

  • This stage is dedicated to guideway construction and includes: cutting and removal of existing asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.  
  • At the Wilson Brook Culvert, crews are building a temporary storm drain line, as well as excavating and replacing the storm water culvert under Eglinton Ave East. The culvert is located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Sloane Avenue and Jonesville Crescent.
  • Concrete removal, excavation, grading, paving, sidewalk and curb construction and installation of street lights will continue between the culvert and Jonesville Crescent.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone. As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

TIMING

  • Traffic shift to extend the guideway work zone will occur as early as November 6, 2019 and remain in place for approximately six (6) months.
  • Sloane Stop construction may occur as early as 6:00a.m. beginning November 11, 2019 and continue for two (2) weeks.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Updates on work taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.
  • Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
