Guideway Construction on Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie Street

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Lanes will be realigned to accommodate guideway construction on Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie St. Traffic is expected to change to the configuration depicted below as early as August 28, 2019 and will remain in place until mid-November, 2019. For this stage, two eastbound-to-northbound lanes will be restored and westbound traffic moved to the north of Eglinton Avenue East.

All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East.

TIMING

• The traffic change will occur as early as August 28, 2019 and remain in place until mid-November, 2019.
• This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Lane reductions will be required with a minimum of one through lane of traffic in each direction maintained.
• Two eastbound-to-northbound lanes will be restored.
• Westbound traffic will be shifted to the north of Eglinton Avenue East.
• Guideway construction activities may include: cutting and removal of existing asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.
• There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and/or a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.

 PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

• A pedestrian walkway is available on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, west of Leslie Street.
• A pedestrian walkway is available on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Leslie Street.
