As early as Tuesday, February 11, 2020, installation of a new storm and sanitary system on Hollis Street will begin. This work will take place in two phases over approximately two months. During phase two, Hollis St will be closed at Weston Road to all vehicular traffic, including resident vehicles, for approximately one month while this work takes place. Pedestrian access to properties will be maintained.   

Alternative parking arrangements will be provided to affected properties.  Arrangements will be coordinated by the contractor, Crosslinx Transit Solutions – Constructors.  If you have not been contacted by a member of the Crosslinx team, please contact the West Crosstown Community office at crosstown@metrolinx.com or 416-782-8118 for information. Electronic construction updates will be issued every Friday for the duration of the work. 

Hours of Work

  •  Approximately two months beginning February 11, 2020.
  • Hollis St will be closed at Weston Rd for approximately one month.
  • Hollis Street will be closed for phase two beginning as early as March 11, 2020.
  • Utility installation will take place between 7:00am and 7:00pm, Monday through Friday.
  •  The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • This work may be longer or shorter than expected.

What to Expect

  • During phase one, crews will be working in the intersection on the storm and sanitary system connection. For this phase, access to Hollis Street will remain open, with two-way traffic controlled by flagpersons during construction hours.
  • During phase two, crews will excavate approximately five meters in the roadway to install a new storm and sanitary system on Hollis Street. For this phase, vehicular access to Hollis Street will be restricted.
  • Concrete barriers, fencing and other material will be erected to secure the work zone.
  •  Noise from construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, and trucks can be expected.
  • Site lighting may be required.
  • Equipment and material storage in and around work zones.

Phase 1 – As early as February 11 for approximately one month.

Traffic Details

  • The westbound right turn from Eglinton Ave W to Weston Rd and the southbound left turn from Weston Rd to Hollis St and to Eglinton Ave W will be temporarily prohibited during phase one.
  • Hollis St will be closed to vehicular traffic during phase two of the work.
  • The south sidewalk on Hollis St will be closed between Weston Rd to north of the Scotiabank parking lot during phase two.
  • Driveways for 1167, 1161, and 1151 Weston Rd will be closed during phase two.
  • Intermittent sidewalk interruptions may occur throughout the duration of this work.
  • Emergency Services access to Hollis St will be maintained.
  • Waste and recycling collection services will be maintained.
  • No major impacts to TTC bus service.

Travelling Smart During Construction

Travel delays are expected with Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
