What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be continuing civil road work activities along Eglinton Avenue East. Starting as early as Monday, April 8 and lasting for approximately five (5) days, crews will be conducting curb installation at the north east corner of Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East. 

In order to facilitate this work, there will be temporary lane reductions at north east corner of Pharmacy Avenue.

Hours of Work
  • Work is expected to begin as early as Monday, April 8, 2019 for approximately five (5) days.
  • Work will be performed between the hours of 7 am and 11pm, seven (7) days a week.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavor to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
  • Civil road work activities at the north east corner of Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
  • Slight lane reductions at the north east corner of Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from construction equipment.
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
  • Slight lane reductions at the north east corner of Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
  • A minimum of two lanes of traffic in each direction.
  • The north- south crosswalk east of the intersection may be closed during this work.
  • South sidewalk closed along Eglinton Avenue East between Pharmacy Avenue and Lebovic Avenue.
  • There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and a traffic barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
  • Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate routes.
  • Temporary pedestrian re-routing around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.
TTC Impacts
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
