As early as Friday, May 7, 2021, traffic lanes on Yonge Street south of Eglinton Avenue will shift to the east side of the street to allow space for a temporary work zone on the west side of the street. Within the work zone, crews will perform wet utility relocation works for Eglinton Station’s South East Entrance. The temporary work zone will remain in place for approximately three (3) weeks.
For safety purposes, crews will be required to close a small portion of the sidewalk adjacent to the work zone, on the west side of Yonge Street, from Saturday, May 8 – Sunday, May 9, 2021. For more information, please review the complete notice or visit www.thecrosstown.ca
What to Expect
Wet utility works will take place on the west side of Yonge Street south of Eglinton Avenue. Construction activities will include concrete breaking and removals, drilling, hydro-vacuuming, material deliveries, and paving. Periodic noise from trucks and use of heavy equipment can be expected. Concrete barriers, fencing, and signage will be in place to delineate the work zone. Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present, while the traffic changes are being implemented. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.
Hours of Work
• As early as Friday, May 7, 2021 for approximately three (3) weeks.
• To mitigate delays, traffic changes will be implemented during off-peak hours.
• Utility works are expected to take place between 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• This configuration may be in place shorter or longer than expected.
Traffic Details
• Traffic lanes on Yonge Street south of Eglinton Avenue will shift to the east side of the street.
• Traffic on Yonge Street north of Eglinton Avenue will continue to travel on the east and west sides of the work zone.
• Traffic on Eglinton Avenue will remain on the south side.
• One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue.
• All turns at the intersection will remain prohibited.
Pedestrians Details
• A portion of the sidewalk on the west side of Yonge Street, south of Eglinton Avenue, will be closed from Saturday May 8 – Sunday May 9, 2021.
• Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians.
• All four crosswalks at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue will remain open.
• Access to properties and businesses will be maintained.
