WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Mining operations will begin at the Avenue Station Main Entrance in Spring 2018. The mining equipment is planned to be delivered to the site during the weekend of March 2 – 4.

In order to lower the heavy mining equipment to the bottom of the Main Entrance shaft, a temporary crane will be erected on Eglinton Avenue. This crane will take up one additional westbound lane of traffic, just west of Avenue Road.

Between Friday night and Sunday night, the temporary crane will be set up, the equipment will be delivered and lowered into the bottom of the shaft, and the crane will be dismantled. This work is planned to take place on a continuous 24 hour schedule.
