What work is starting?
What: Crews are required to install dewatering wells in advance of the arrival of the tunnel boring machines, Don and Humber. Following the installation, dewatering work will commence as early as late June 2016.
When: Starting as early as May 30, 2016 until late June 2016, construction will begin on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Mount Pleasant Road. Some work may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and/or unforeseen circumstances.
Where: During this stage of construction, a work zone will be set up on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Mount Pleasant Road to west of Taunton Road.
Traffic Details
- The work zone will be located in the curb lane on the south side of Eglinton.
- Traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane in each direction, from just west of Mount Pleasant Road to west of Taunton Road.
- Left turns from Taunton Road to westbound Eglinton Avenue East will be prohibited.
- On-street parking will be restricted along Eglinton Avenue East within the construction zone.
Pedestrian Impacts
- Sidewalks will remain open.
- Access to all businesses will also remain open during construction.
Public Transit
TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
Work Hours
Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning works may be required to complete the work and keep construction moving. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
