Pedestrian Safety near Construction Sites

The tunnelled section between Brentcliffe Road and Black Creek Drive is complete, and last year, construction activities began at all 15 underground stations including Kennedy Station. The preparatory works at the at-grade portion of the line, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Station, also started this summer. Since the end of school, many work zones have been set up for construction and some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue have changed.

Shoring and Utility Work in the Roadway at Mount Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

In June 2017, crews began shoring of the station box in the roadway, starting on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.  

Shoring is a common step in the process of constructing the foundation of a building.  Steel piles, as well as braces and tie-backs, will be installed around the perimeter of the station box to support excavation.  Read more »

Water main Service Work at Mount Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning as early as July 20, crews will be performing water main service work in the vicinity of Mt. Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East.  

Crews will trench along the sidewalk on the north west side of Eglinton Avenue East to expose the water main to cut-and-cap the water main in advance of piling in the roadway. Read more »

Drill Move at Mount Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

On Thursday May 25, crews will move the drill rig located at the Main Entrance east to the Secondary Entrance.  The drill rig will exit the Main Entrance and travel in reverse along Eglinton Avenue East, crossing Mt. Pleasant Road, over to the Secondary Entrance.  Additionally, a crane will lift equipment onto a truck to be transported to the Secondary Entrance.

Upcoming Support of Excavation and Utility Relocations in the Roadway at Mount Pleasant Station

In Fall 2016, crews started support of excavation (shoring) works at both the Main and Secondary Entrance sites of the future Mount Pleasant Station. The next step is to begin utility relocations and shoring of the station box in the roadway. Crews will complete work on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East first, then flip to the south side.
