As work intensifies along the surface portion of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project in preparation for guideway construction, there will be some major changes.
Expect to see new traffic changes between Victoria Park and Birchmount beginning less than a week from today — as early as Friday, September 21, 2018.
The biggest change will see new left-turn restrictions implemented when entering or exiting commercial properties. All left-turns at major intersections will be maintained.
Construction work zones will be set-up on the north and south sides of Eglinton Avenue East, as crews continue road widening, upgrading and relocating both dry and wet utilities.
Preparatory work for this longer-term lane and turn set-up will begin as early as Friday, September 21, 2018 starting at 7:00 PM and ending Monday, September 24, 2018 at 6:00 AM. This phase of work will last for around six (6) months.
Here’s what you can expect as work is carried out along this stretch:
- All left-turns to and from commercial properties along Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted for the duration of this work.
- A minimum of two (2) lanes of traffic in each direction (eastbound and westbound) will be maintained.
- Temporary sidewalks will be provided.
- Signage will be in place to direct pedestrians to alternate routes.
- Temporary bus platforms will be provided at affected TTC bus stops.
Please watch for traffic and construction signage. As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
More details early next week in a full notice.
