What Work is Taking Place?

Crews need to access a cable chamber on the southbound lane of Yonge Street as part of Toronto Hydro utility relocation works. In order to safely carry out the work, the southbound lane on Yonge Street will be closed while crews are accessing the chamber.

Hours of Work

  • This work will take place overnight (7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.) intermittently for approximately 5-6 nights total starting as early as mid-December 2018 over approximately 2-3 months.
  • Additional occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • A work zone will be set up in the southbound lane of Yonge Street.
  • The southbound lane on Yonge Street will be closed. Flag persons will be on site during the lane closure to alternate traffic through the intersection north and southbound.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect minimal noise in the area caused crews entering and working within the cable chambers.
  • All access to businesses is maintained throughout the stages.

Transit Information

Access to the TTC Eglinton Subway Station will be maintained. Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers. Please watch for posted notices indicating new information.
