WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

In preparation for the July 1, 2019 traffic restriction at the Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue East intersection, crews will be constructing a bus turnaround facility and emergency services access for Fire, Police and Paramedic on the east side of Leslie Street. Lane reductions will be in place overnight to accommodate these activities (see below). Work is expected to begin on June 12, 2019 and continue for four (4) nights. 

All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East.

 

 

TIMING 

  • The traffic change will occur overnight as early as June 12, 2019. 
  • Work is expected to continue overnight for 4 nights. 
  • This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Lane reductions will be required with a minimum of one through lane of traffic in each direction maintained.
  • There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and/or a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
  • The pedestrian crosswalk on the north east corner of the intersection will have a flag person present to direct pedestrians safely around the work area.
