What Work is Taking Place?

Parking will be displaced in the East and South Parking Lots at Kennedy Station to facilitate construction of the Kennedy Station. Works include:

  • Constructing the new parking entrance and line painting at the South Parking Lot;
  • Building the temporary bus loop and commuter platform and;
  • Relocating the existing Taxi Stand to the Passenger Pick Up and Drop Off area.

THESL work at the East Parking Lot continues. Wet utilities relocation work to follow.

 

Hours of Work

  • Work begins late-August and will last for approximately six (6) weeks.  
  • This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • This work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Updates on works taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.

 

What to Expect

  • Crews will be constructing a new entrance to the South Parking Lot, line painting the Lot, building a temporary bus loop and platform, and relocating the existing Taxi Stand.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • The East Parking Lot will be closed on August 31st and parking stalls will be removed from the South Parking Lot on August 28th to safely conduct the work.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction.
  • Temporary closures of pedestrian walkways may be required to facilitate construction (demolition, utility relocation, etc.).
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • As always, please pay attention to signage and do take care when travelling near work sites.

 

TTC Details

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
