What Work is Taking Place?

Mining works are now complete at Oakwood Station, allowing crews to start removing excavation equipment from the underground cavern. To facilitate these works, a crane will be erected within the work zone on the northside of Eglinton Avenue West. Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one lane in each direction, to provide a clearance area for the crane to safely remove the equipment. Equipment removal will now begin on Monday January 21 at 7:00 p.m. and take approximately eight (8) hours to complete.  

Hours of Work

 

  • Tuesday, January 21, 2020
  • Work begins at 6:00 a.m. and takes approximately fourteen (14) hours to complete.
  • Work may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.
  • Noise from construction equipment can be expected.
  • A crane will be erected within the work zone on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Changes

  • Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one lane in each direction, while this work takes place.
  • Traffic control personnel and/or a paid duty officer will be present, while this work takes place.
  • All pedestrian routes will remain the same.

  • Access to TTC will be maintained at all times.

Travelling Smart during Construction 

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
