What Work is Taking Place?
On Monday September 21, 2020, sidewalk and curb restoration works will begin on the southside of Hillsdale Avenue between Duplex Avenue and Yonge Street. As part of this work, part of the existing sidewalk and roadway will be removed. Concrete and asphalt will be used to construct the new sidewalk and curbs.
Crews will operate Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Restoration of the sidewalk and curbs will take approximately two (2) weeks to complete. During this time, crews will be required to close a portion of the eastbound curb lane and south sidewalk on Hillsdale Avenue. The closure will begin approximately 50 metres east of Duplex Avenue and end at the bridge over the TTC Subway Right-Of-Way.
Street parking on the southside of Hillsdale Avenue, in and around the work zone, will be prohibited 24-hours a day, seven (7) days a week, for the duration of this work. Two-way traffic on Hillsdale Avenue and access to properties, will be maintained at all times. Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present, while this work takes place.
What to Expect
Noise from construction activity, including trucks, breaking of concrete and asphalt, and use of heavy equipment can be expected. Expect delays while travelling through the area of work. Traffic barrels and tapers will be used to delineate pedestrians and vehicles from the work zone.
