What work is starting?

What: Following the completion of headwall construction, crews will restore the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.

Why: This restoration work is required to return the Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue intersection to its original condition after headwall construction, completed in early 2016 for the future Mount Pleasant station. 

When: Starting as early as June 15, 2016, for 2-3 days. Work may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and/or unforeseen circumstances.

Where: Crews will be working on the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, between Mount Pleasant Road to west of Taunton Road. This work will take place adjacent to the already existing dewatering construction site.  

Traffic Details

  • Crews will be working on a section of the south Eglinton Avenue sidewalk, east of Mount Pleasant Road, immediately beside the de-watering site which has already been set-up.  

Pedestrians

  • During this construction, sidewalks will remain open.
  • For safety reasons, pedestrians will be separated from construction with concrete barriers and/or chain link fence.   
  • Please watch for additional signs directing pedestrians.
  • All crosswalks at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East will remain open.
  • All store entrances on Eglinton Avenue East will remain open and accessible

Transit Information

For the safety of transit riders, both eastbound and westbound TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for posted signs and future information indicating the new locations. 

Work Hours

Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning works may be required to complete the work and keep construction moving. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
